bullet What is the difference between a CEU and a CEH?
spacer A CEU is a Continuing Education Unit; a CEH is a Continuing Education Hour. Although the terms CEU and CEH are often used interchangeably in advertising, licensing agencies require Continuing Education courses (CE) to be measured in CEHs. A CEH identifies the total number of hours it takes to complete a CE course, and can also be referred to as a Contact Hour.

At Women and Addiction Continuing Education Services (WACES), our classes are measured in CEHs. The number of CEHs earned is listed on your Certificate of Completion, as mandated by the licensing/certification boards.

bullet Why do credentialing agencies require continuing education for license renewal or re-certification?
spacer The purpose of continuing education for licensing renewal and re-certification is to keep professionals up to date on the latest information, to broaden their knowledge-base with new material and to ensure that they are providing the best possible treatment plan for their patients. Continuing education provides a forum for health professionals to acquire new information and build their skill level, thereby increasing their success rate with clients.

bullet How long does it take to complete a course?
spacer Each course can be completed in the number of hours listed as the contact hours or units. For example, a 2-unit course can be completed within 2 hours. This means it will take you, at most, 2 hours to read the course material, take notes on what you have read, review the test questions, research the answers to the questions, complete the study guide, and record your responses on the answer sheet provided. Time to take and pass the test has been included in the hours given for the course.

Since people read and comprehend at different rates, the hours it takes participants to complete the course may vary greatly.

Participants, who are speed-readers, have considerable knowledge of the material, a familiarity with the topic and/or extensive clinical experience, may find that they can complete the course in less time. Conversely, participants who read more slowly, have little clinical experience and/or no familiarity with the topic, would most likely need the full 2 hours to complete the course.

bullet How much time do I have to complete a course?
spacer You may take as much time as you need to complete any of our courses.

bullet What does taking a course involve?
spacer Every course requires you to read a text book or online eBook, which you can do on your own time and at your own pace. In order to demonstrate that you have read the material, you are required to answer some multiple-choice questions. The questions are listed in order and the answers are easy to locate in the text. The quiz is not designed to grade you, but rather to ensure that you've read and comprehended the material. After you have completed the exam and the evaluation form, your Certificate of Completion will be issued to you via e-mail.

bullet Why do I have to take a quiz?
spacer The quiz is designed to verify completion of the course and understanding of the materials. Unlike a workshop, where attendance can be taken and a facilitator is present to answer questions, online courses require a different format to demonstrate comprehension of the course materials.

bullet How many questions are there on the quiz for each course?
spacer The number of questions varies, according to the number of units for the course. The exam is presented in an open-book format and the questions follow the order of the written material, so that they can be easily answered as you read the course materials. You can view the questions before taking the course by clicking on the View Exam button on the course listing page.

bullet What is a passing score for the quiz?
spacer You must score 70% or higher to pass the course exam and qualify for issuance of a Certificate of Completion.

bullet What if I fail the exam?
spacer You may retake the exam as many times as necessary. However, you must pay the exam fee each time you take the test.

bullet Do I need any special software to use your site?
spacer You will need Adobe Reader to view and print the Examination Study Guides. If you do not have Adobe Reader on your computer, a link to Adobe.com is provided on our Home page. The software is free.

bullet How and when do I get my Certificate of Completion?
spacer Once you have completed and submitted a course examination and evaluation and your payment has been processed, you will be issued an online Certificate of Completion within 24 hours via e-mail, upon successful passing of the examination. The Certificate of Completion will reflect the date your order is received and approved.

bullet How long should I keep my Certificate of Completion?
spacer Most licensing boards require that Certificates be retained by the licensee for a period of four (4) years. Please check with your board to determine the required time-frame.

bullet What happens if I lose my Certificate?
spacer Send us an e-mail and we will forward a copy of your Certificate to you at no additional cost.

bullet What is the difference between a Textbook Course and an eBook Course?
spacer The difference between a textbook course and an eBook course is the method of acquiring the course materials. We do not provide the textbook course materials. They must be purchased separately; either through the links to Amazon.com provided on the course description page, or from any other source of your choice. The term textbook also applies to course materials in audio format.

The course materials for eBook courses are available, at no additional charge to the course participant, on our web site by clicking on the link on the course description page. These materials can either be viewed on your computer or printed out for your private use only.

The examination processing fees are the same for both the textbook and eBook courses, regardless of the number of continuing education credits. The examination fee is paid at the time of submitting your Examination Answer Sheet. Exam questions may be viewed prior to taking the test, using the link provided on the course description page.

bullet Is the Examination Answer Sheet submitted to you by electronic means?
spacer Yes. Both the text-based course and online eBook course Examination Answer Sheets are available online and are submitted electronically when you click on the "SUBMIT NOW" button. Your Certificate of Completion is also sent electronically using the e-mail address provided with your payment.

bullet Will my licensing board accept your Continuing Education courses?
spacer Please refer to the links on our Provider Approvals page to review your licensing board's specific requirements. All of the course materials are written by professionals and are approved for continuing education. However, we cannot guarantee that every course is appropriate for your professional discipline. It is your responsibility to verify your board's requirements, before selecting and ordering a course, to ensure that it meets your professional needs.

bullet How many Continuing Education Hours am I allowed to earn through online learning?
spacer Although many credentialing agencies allow all of the Continuing Education Hours to be earned via online and home study format, there may be restrictions for your particular board. It is your responsibility to confirm with your board and verify their requirements. To help you access this information, we have provided links to the various boards and agencies on our Provider Approvals page.

bullet Will my credit card information be confidential and protected?
spacer All of your credit card and personal information is protected and will remain confidential when ordering online using our Secure Server. Our Secure Server uses 128 bit encryption to provide you with the maximum security when ordering online. However, not all web browsers are capable of 128 bit encryption. Make sure that you see the "locked" padlock at the bottom of your browser screen on the Order Form page before placing your order.

bullet What is your Refund Policy?
spacer Fees are collected when you complete and submit the Examination Answer Sheet/Payment Form. The Examination fee is for the processing, review and grading of the examination questions. Therefore, no refunds will be given once you have submitted the answer form and your payment.

Textbook course materials purchased from an outside vendor (Amazon.com) are subject to the terms and conditions of that vendor. Please check with Amazon.com for their refund policies.

bullet What is your Privacy Policy?
spacer Your privacy is of the utmost importance to us. We do not share or sell any of the information that you provide when ordering any of our courses. However, we do keep a mailing list of our valued customers, and occasionally send information to them. You can always choose not to be on our mailing list by sending us an e-mail. Outside vendors, such as Amazon.com, have their own Privacy Policies, which can be accessed from the link provided on the course description page.
